4th grade updates 1/27/12

  • Spelling Unit 17 Test Monday.
  • Mix-it Up Day is Monday! 
  • February 24th will be the Hutchings Carnival. Each classroom will be putting together a basket of goodies to raffle off at the Carnival. These baskets earn money for our classrooms! Thank you in advance for your donations! Please make sure all donations are sent in by Monday, February 20. Classroom themes are:
    • Burch ~ Star Wars
    • Bradner ~ Winter Fun Inside & Out
    • Highum ~ Games & Puzzles
    • Palo ~ Sports & Games
  • Box Tops and Campbells Soup Labels are being collected every Friday until February 24th!  Cut 'em out and send 'em in!  :)  Please make sure they are not expired.  Thanks!
  • Penny Drive is underway!  Thank you for your support for the Red Cross!  Donations will be collected until March 2nd.
  • 4th graders need to make sure they have their recorders on their Music Day!

Updates 1/20/12

News and Notes from 4th grade:
  • There is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday.  It is a Teacher Work Day.
  • Quarter 3 begins on Tuesday.
  • Report Cards for Quarter 2 will come home with students on Wednesday, January 25.
  • Students will take the district mid-year Math assessment and the district quarterly Social Studies assessment next week.

  • The Hutchings School Improvement committee, made up of staff and parents, is conducting a survey of Hutchings parents. The purpose of this survey is togather valuable information as we move forward in the school improvement process.   Your responses are completely anonymous.  The results of the survey will be shared with the school community.  The survey will be available through February 3rd by clicking on the link below.  The link will also be on the Hutchings website.  Thank you for your time.

Fourth Grade Updates 1/11/12

  • Just a reminder from Mrs. Wanlass that students should NOT be bringing electronic devices out on the playground at recess or into the lunchroom.  If students bring electronic devices on the bus, it is expected that they keep them in their backpacks during the school day.
  • Students need to have their Math Template every day for math.  Many students have misplaced them.  Templates are $8 to replace. 
  • We do not have school the next two Mondays.  There is NO SCHOOL on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. day.  There is NO SCHOOL on Monday for a Teacher Work Day.
  • Spelling Unit 15 test is Tuesday, January 17.
  • Science test for the current kit is Wednesday, January 18.  Bradner/Palo will be testing States of Matter.  Burch/Highum will be testing Enery Transfer.  Study Guides will come home Friday.
  • Math Unit 6 test is Friday, January 20.  Review Sheets will be passed out on Wednesday the 18th.
  • The end of the quarter is Friday, January 20.

4th Grade Updates 1/6/2012


  • Spelling Test 14 is Monday.  Please remind your child to study the skill for this week, the Word Preview words, and their Words To Learn.
  • There will be a Social Studies test on Chapter 5 the end of next week. 
  • There is NO School on Monday, January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Students also have Monday, January 23 off for a Teacher Work Day.
  • The end of the quarter is Friday, January 20.
  • During the next week students will be taking their second Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) test during their Technology time.  Scores will be coming home following testing.  They will complete a third SRI test at the end of the school year.  Just a reminder, fourth graders should score between a 600-900 Lexile by the end of fourth grade.
